- How do I add a new friend?
- Select “Add Friend” under the Friends tab on the Discord home page.
- Type in both the username and the four digit Discord Tag of the user you wish to add as a friend.
- Leave no spaces between the two and add a # before the Discord Tag.
- Keep in mind that the username is also case sensitive.
- How do I create a new server?
- In order to create a new Discord server, you must select the “+” at the bottom of the sidebar along the left hand side of the screen.
- From there it will give you multiple options for what type of server you wish to create. Select the appropriate setting.
- How do I add a new channel within a server?
- Select the “+” next to the tab labeled “Text Channels” or “Voice Channels” on your server’s page.
- It will give you the option of making the new channel for text (creating a chat room amongst server members) or voice (where server members can speak to each other over a voice call). Select your desired channel setting and name it.
- How do I create server roles?
- Select the down arrow at the top left hand side of the page next to the server’s name, and select “Server Settings”
- Select “Roles and “Create Role”
- From there it will take you to “Display” where you can name the role and assign it an associated color.
- Next to the “Display” tab will be one labeled “Permissions”. There you will be able to select the specific permissions and functions server members will be able to do.
- These permissions range from being able to read and send messages, to having complete administrative control over the server.
